Start with a clear specification
The single biggest cause of delay in a bulk date inquiry is an incomplete specification. Before you contact a supplier, define the variety you want, the grade, the moisture expectation, the packaging format and the destination market.
A supplier who quotes without those details is guessing, and a price quoted on a guess rarely survives contract stage.
Understand container economics
Most serious date export relationships start at one 20-foot container. That is the minimum order at Trading Pioneers, and it is the level at which freight, documentation and handling costs become sensible per kilogram.
If you are testing a new origin, plan your first container as a commercial trial rather than a sample purchase.
Ask about origin and season
Iranian dates come from several growing regions with different harvest windows. Origin and season affect availability, texture and price.
A supplier who can explain which origin fits your specification, and why, is a supplier who is actually sourcing rather than reselling.
Agree the documentation early
Documentation requirements vary by destination market. Agree what is needed at quotation stage, not after production.
This is also where quality expectations should be written down so both sides are working from the same definition.
